Why I like Dan
The first time I met Dan, he handed me a drink. Class.
A beautiful Singer with striking looks, she has always been on the popular forefront of the cutting edge and avant garde, working with experimental musicians and imaginitive video producers to produce some of the most memorable music and music videos I have ever seen.
As a musician I’d love to talk to her about many things – and I quite fancy her too! :D
Me and Absnasm went to his gig and Abs was adamant we go see him around the back stage.
He looked right through me and it felt as evil and sppooky as you’d imagine. I still have shivers when I think about it.
Abs got an autograph though :D
I met Joe Satriani after a gig at the Metro Arena in Newcastle upon Tyne. I was walking behing the stadium to go home after the concert and noticed some other kids waiting around the back all saying he was gonna come out this way.
He did and he got off the bus and I shook his hand! – hopefully some of the guitar magic rubbed off and has helped me play along the way – maybe not :D
He was a very quiet and unassuming person and seemed quite centered and modest.
Some people had their moms bring them their guitars for him to sign, I suppose they must have expected him to do this.
I managed to get one of his concert flyers signed, and I have it to this very day!
Dan is a duuude!!
We met through a fella who I had a wild torrid affair with, it didn’t last but my friendship with Dan did. We came together for a love of poetry and music and other generally creative doings, and I tried (rather unsuccessfully) to set him up with a few of my lady friends. I introduced him to Absnasm because she wanted to sing and he wanted to work with a strong singer, so we spent the next few years in and out of flats with cats and pubs and hubs being creatively drunk and attempting to take over the world.
We’ve collaborated on a few projects including an exhibition and some music, and I’m desperately trying to work with him again some time soon.
We live on opposite sides of the same city, settled down a bit, got loved up a bit, I got a cat, and am in the process of convincing his lovely girlfriend to get one too.
We don’t see nearly enough of eachother and once I get my arse into gear and buy a big oak dining table, he and his lady are soooo coming over for some grub.
I’ve known Jonny ever since I was old enough to be left at my cousins house by my parents at around five or six years old. At 29 those times are rather blurry!
We met again at 14 through the love of moping about on street corners with nothing much to do and mutual friends.
Since then we’ve been witness to the ups and downs of our cadre of friends and the ever growing number of respective girlfriends until we have all virtually shacked up and some are starting to go bald at 30!! :D (including me!)
It’s quite a unique honour to be part of a set of friends who new eachother before they were all ten years old – you become a sort of “family” in the way that no matter how much any of them piss you off, you can’t fall out with any of them for long before your thick as theives again :D
Jonny has been at the center of our little group for years – taking the photos, arranging the parties and mediating the arguments – probably starting a few too mind. ;D
Paperfaerie Rocks! Papaerfaerie inroduced me to Absnasm.
I met her over 6 years ago through a mate of mine who was her boyfriend for a while. We clicked instantly and have been friends ever since!
We started out awstruck by the acoustic music, comedy and poetry scene in Newcastle. We endeavored to get involved, become a part of it and ended up running bits of it!
We have been involved in various artistic collaborations, some actually sucessful! Her poetry is on a number of my electronica tunes.
We have both settled down with our respective partners and have not collaborated for a while – but we will be back!!
When I was single Paperfaerie took me out on some incredibly lairy nights out with her girlfriends. She has set me up with some fantastic dates and generally been an inspiration to me in art and enthusiasm about life!
Paperfaerie has even got some of my poetry published!
It’s gjindancer! I’ve known this young fella-me-lad for, oooh, about six years. We were introduced by paperfaerie, who thought we might form some kind of musical collaboration. We did, briefly, but found we got along far too well and preferred to spend all our time dissecting the world and its rights and wrongs to actually get any work done. Later on, we collaborated in starting up an open-mic night called A Bit of a Do, offering music, poetry and shenanigans, and we’ve been the best of buddies ever since.
He’s one of the most diversely creative people I’ve ever met – artist, designer, website creator, musician and multi-instrumentalist mentalist, producer and innovator of wild and crazy ideas, and whatever he fancies doing, he just gets stuck right into it, ploughing ahead with gusto and dang the consequences. So you’d better be nice to my friend, cheer the hell out of him and listen to what he has to say. Any bother and you’ll have me to answer to. Grrr.
Abi is one of my bestest friends! She has been a great support to me in troubled times, the other half of our open mic night “A Bit of a Do”, she has introduced me to the folk scene and many friends in the 6 years of our friendship.
She always provides me with unbiased and sensible advice, including joining 43 things!
